Applicants are invited for a postdoctoral position in our group at the Salamanca Cancer Research Center (CIC-IBMCC) to woprk on the project: “Role of C3G in hematopoietic tumors and in platelet-mediated angiogenesis. Evaluation of C3G as a therapeutic target” (reference SA078P20, Regional Government of Castilla y León).

Our research is focused on the mechanisms by which C3G regulates signaling and their alterations in tumor diseases. C3G is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) of Rap1-GTPases that regulates malignant trans-formation in a tissue specific manner.
We have recently elucidated the mechanisms of C3G autoinhibition and activation, and the catalytic deregulation of C3G in lymphomas (Carabias et al 2020, Sci Signal 13(647):eabb7075). Briefly described in our Author's View (Carabias et al 2020, Mol Cell Oncol 1837581).

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic researcher to join us in studying the structural and mechanistic basis of C3G regulation, the role of C3G catalytic deregulation in tumors, and in exploring the impact of C3G inhibition in those diseases.

Requirements:

PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacy or related disciplines.
Solid background in protein expression, purification and characterization.
Documented experience in biochemical and biophysical methods for quantitative analysis of protein-protein or protein-lipid interactions.

Desirable:

Experience in macromolecular X-ray crystallography or other structural biology methods.
